Jericho
No skiing today, January 31st, but the 2.5k snowmaking loop survived amazingly well. Once it freezes up skiing will be great.
Skiing was fine at Craftsbury on Jan. 20. 4 new inches in the morning was a nice surprise and probably made the difference between sketchy and quite good. Conditions were soft and a bit slow for skating, but coverage was good. Classic skiers looked good with VR 50 and 55. Thin in places, but quite skiable on best skis.
The skiing at the range is excellent right now. All the trails have coverage and have been groomed, not just the 2k snow making loop.
Come on out for the EABC Thursday night biathlon race. 5:30 shooting clinic, 6:30 start.
Sleepy hollow. We have our 600m loop open and it is quite good.
Bolton does still have snow, but the skiing is terrible (and this is from someone who enjoys skiing on crap snow). It’s rock hard, extremely rutted, and they have no plans to groom until they get more snow.
Unfortunately, the catastrophic meltdown has occurred. Any firsthand reports are welcome. Here’s a rundown of Northern VT conditions.
Bolton: still open
Trapps: still open
Craftsbury: still claiming ~70k open
Sleepy Hollow: down to 400m manmade loop
Catamount: Closed
Jericho Firing Range: 2k manmade loop will survive
And in NY, the webcam at Mt. Van Hoevenberg is looking pretty bleak.
At the moment, skiing is pretty good everywhere.
If there is a catastrophic meltdown, we’ll start posting again.
Fantastic skiing at notchview.
This was Wednesday, before the big storm. Back country skiing north of Newry-Sunday River on the ME/NH line. The ski touring centers at the Bethel Inn and the Sunday River Inn are now in full swing, too.
